Gavel is mad libs for lawyers. Gavel’s Legal Templates (No-Setup Automated Forms) allow you to start assembling your documents in Gavel today. All you have to do is click “Run” and start filling in the blanks!

How do I access the forms for my practice?

Our Pro and Scale customers can request the forms they need directly from their Dashboard. Click "+ New Workflow" and then "Select a legal template." The workflows will instantly be added to your account. Customers on Lite or Standard can view and test the Legal Templates on our Legal Template Library, and access them fully by upgrading to Pro or Scale.

How do these forms work?

In Gavel lingo, each of these is a “workflow,” which includes a Questionnaire and Document Templates. They are designed so that, depending on how questions are answered, documents, clauses, and the content will adjust accordingly.

Each workflow has documents attached. If they are fillable PDFs, the fillable fields are matched to the variables. If they are Word documents, the variables are placed, like mad libs in the relevant spots in the document. Tags are inserted, like pieces of bread, around clauses that you want to appear conditionally.
